Hiring Process
Start to Finish!
Step 1: Check Requirements
Please make sure you meet all the requirements to become a Magic Ears Teacher!

Step 2: Fill Out & Submit Application
1. Create a Login by clicking here! Email address & Password creation
​
2. Once the Login is created this gives you access to the application form.
This involves filling out a form on their website that asks for your information.

Your name
-
Your basic information
-
Your education including certifications (These must be submitted prior to contract signing)
-
Your teaching experience (must input 1 year)
-
Your availability to work within Magic Ears’ teaching times

3. Submit Application (It takes 24 hours to process) -- Check email and website
Step 3: Mini Demo (10 minutes)
1. Once your application has been accepted, you can schedule a live interview or a recorded interview.
2. You must then download the platform that Magic Ears uses to teach classes.
3. The Live Interview is Preferred and has a higher success rate!
About the Live Interview

A specific time is set for the interview (it can be scheduled beyond 6 hours), you will log into the Platform at the set date & time.

The live interview consists of an introduction with questions along with a mini demo.

The lesson for the demo will be loaded into the platform prior to your set date & time.
-
Make sure you prepare the lesson thoroughly and have 2 relevant props.

About the Recorded Interview

A time is picked to submit your demo interview recording, you can attempt it as many times as you would like.
-
The recorded demo includes an introduction of yourself and your experience, along with the 8 minute lesson you have prepared.

The lesson for the demo will be loaded into the platform at least 24 hours prior to your set date & time.

Make sure you prepare the lesson thoroughly and have 2 relevant props.

You will need to use a screen recorder that has audio. A free one can be found here

Step 4: 1v1 Training
The 1v1 Training consists of teaching a mock class to a Magic Ears Trainer.

1. As soon as you schedule the 1v1 training, a preview will immediately download to the Magic Ears Teacher Platform.
Check the platform ASAP and PREVIEW the lesson!
​
2. You will have a mini lesson you need to PREPARE prior to your date or time, which includes having 2 relevant props.
​
3. During the 1v1, you will go through the demo and some training getting advice and feedback along the way. Once that is completed you will go through the lesson again, incorporating the feedback the trainer discussed. The second demo is graded and you will go through the lesson on your own!

Once your 1v1 Training & Demo Class is completed, can take 2 business days to process and receive an answer. -- Check email and website

**Based on your Mini Demo performance and teaching experience, you may have the ability to take a quiz in lieu of the 1v1 training**
Step 5: Trial Class (25 minutes)
The trial class is an actual class with Magic Ears students!
Step 1: Schedule your trial class on the teacher portal!
**There is no specific class for the trial class as it can be any class we teach at Magic Ears!**
You will not be able to view your class material until it is confirmed 24 hours in advance. You can have 1 to 4 students in the classroom so prepare accordingly!

Step 2: Prepare for the trial class!
Once your trial class is scheduled, you will be able to review the class in the Magic Ears Teacher Platform. You should be collecting at least 2 props related to the class material, and reviewing the teacher directions on each slide.
Props
You must have 2 relevant props to use during your lesson.
These props can include:

Key words written out for the practice slides.
-
Real life props to use when giving examples.
-
A puppet or doll to model phrases or conversations.

*Remember to practice this lesson thoroughly before!*
​
You must meet the bottom lines during your trial class as follows:
​
1. Bring Passion / Use TPR / Smile / Transition phrases ​
2. Mute Noise *We have a zero tolerance noise policy*
Parents talking, background noise, mic noise, or any distracting sounds.
"When in doubt, mute it out!"
​
3. Turn of Camera *Zero tolerance to distracting camera policy*
More than 1 person in camera, nudity, distracting background, student eating or being distracting
​
4. Timing
-
Make sure to practice your timing in class so it flows smoothly and you end the class between 25 & 28.5 minutes!

You must practice ahead of time; find trophy pages, practice pages, and pages where you can extend if needed.

Do not skip material or slides & do not end before 25 minutes.

You will not have to leave feedback on your trial class!!
​
Once your Trial Class is completed, it can take up to 2 business days process and receive an answer. -- Check email and website
​
**A second trial class may be requested if you did not pass your first trial, but only made a few mistakes and showed potential**
Step 6: Pass Background Check & Sign Contract
Once you have been hired you will submit your contract and background check! This will be done via email so make sure to always check your spam folder!
3-5 days to process background check
Step 7: Begin Teaching
Once you have passed your background check & signed the contract you are a hired Magic Ears Teacher!! Congratulations!
You can now open slots on your portal and start teaching!!
